Pride and Prejudice 1940

Mr. and Mrs. Bennet, a wealthy aristocratic couple raising five daughters. While the girls were young, their parents knew neither hardship nor worry. As the years passed, the girls came of age, and the need to marry them off successfully loomed on the horizon. The couple set out in search of suitable candidates. There weren’t many candidates, but just then, two single, pleasant gentlemen moved into the neighborhood: Mr. Bingley and Mr. Darcy. The Bennets were delighted that they now had a chance to marry off at least two of their daughters, but due to the fierce competition among the prospective brides, quarrels and misunderstandings began, and—like a snowball—a complex tangle of relationships began to grow—for everyone has their pride, and prejudices do exist...
