Opening Night 1977

Broadway star Myrtle Gordon falls into a deep depression after witnessing the death of one of her fans. She begins to be haunted by the girl’s ghost. Unable to shake off the visions, Myrtle begins to drink heavily. Her strange behavior threatens to derail the premiere of a new play. Myrtle continues to attend rehearsals but aggressively resists the director’s interpretation of the play. Despite everything, the premiere goes on. Performance after performance, as she reinterprets her role and improvises on stage, Myrtle begins to find inner balance.
