A Matter of Life and Death 1946

The end of World War II. Peter Carter’s plane is on fire, his parachute is torn to shreds, and the pilot goes on the air to hear a human voice one last time before he dies. He pours out his heart to a girl named June who hears him and jumps out of the falling plane, but he doesn’t die. A mistake was made in Heaven—the guiding angel couldn’t find him in the fog. By the time the angel-guide finally finds Peter, Peter has already met June, and they have fallen in love. Peter asks the angel-guide for one more chance, and a court is convened to decide his fate.
