Brittany, 1770. Marianne, a painter, arrives at a coastal estate to paint a portrait of the owner’s daughter, Eloise. The painting is intended to be sent to Eloise’s fiancé in Milan. In protest against the marriage, the young woman refuses to pose, and the guest is introduced as a companion for walks. As they spend more and more time together, the two women begin to feel a mutual attraction.
