Music lover Brian Fitzgerald, whom the indigenous people call Fitzcarraldo, is obsessed with the idea of building a real opera house in his hometown of Iquitos. To do so, he embarks on a reckless adventure—using his last bit of money—to search for a rubber plantation in the Amazon jungle.
