Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind 1984

The Future. After a nuclear war, a terrible environmental catastrophe struck Earth. The planet’s surface is almost entirely covered by forests that release toxic plant spores into the atmosphere. The survivors live in areas not yet covered by forests and periodically encounter monstrous insect-like creatures. The Valley of the Winds is one of the kingdoms that emerged from the ruins of former states. It is ruled by the brave Princess Nausicaä. But the Valley of the Winds’ peaceful existence is disrupted when the small country faces warlike neighbors who seek to recreate a dangerous weapon capable of destroying the planet once and for all.
