Beau Geste 1939

The central character of this story is Michael, nicknamed “Handsome,” the eldest of three brothers being raised by their distant relative, Lady Brandon. When a sapphire known as “Blue Water” suddenly disappears from a room where only family members were present, suspicion falls on "Handsome," and that morning he leaves his family home and Great Britain to join the French Foreign Legion, which is fighting in North Africa. His younger brothers rush after him. When they left home, each of them left a note, and each took the blame upon themselves.
